Malaysia has adopted
manufacturing practices influenced by both Western and Eastern ideologies,
primarily driven by materialistic goals. This adoption has led to various
issues within the manufacturing sector in the country, including a loss of
humanity, environmental degradation, and exploitation of labor. Practices
devoid of Islamic principles often result in products and processes that do not
align with Sharia compliance or the needs of Muslim society. This study aims to
address this by identifying Islamic manufacturing principles and formulating a
definition of Islamic manufacturing that adheres to Sharia, cleanliness,
blessings, and eliminates doubts.
The study, conducted
through qualitative research utilizing document analysis, explores Islamic
sources such as the Quran, Hadith, and writings of Islamic scholars. It
identifies key principles of Islamic manufacturing concerning owners,
capitalization, staff, premises, equipment, materials, work processes, and
product documentation. The research concludes that Islamic manufacturing is a
holistic process that transforms materials in accordance with Sharia,
cleanliness, and blessings, ultimately benefiting the community in this world
and the hereafter.
Manufacturing holds
significant importance in modern economies, acting as a catalyst for economic
growth and fulfilling societal needs. However, with globalization comes the
influence of Western ideals, which have led to a shift away from Islamic
principles in manufacturing practices. Recognizing the potential of the global
Halal market, many companies are adapting their practices to comply with
Sharia. Malaysia, as an Islamic country, has been proactive in manufacturing
Halal products, with significant investments in infrastructure and
certification processes.
Globalization has not
only led to Westernization but has also impacted various aspects of human life,
including economy, politics, culture, science, and technology. The dominance of
Western knowledge since the decline of Islamic civilization has contributed to
issues like materialism, environmental degradation, and exploitation. The
manufacturing sector, now dominated by Western practices, often overlooks
Sharia compliance, cleanliness, and blessings, resulting in questionable
products in the market.
Given the substantial
Muslim population globally, it is imperative to approach manufacturing concepts
from an Islamic perspective. Islamic manufacturing principles must align with
Sharia, cleanliness, and blessings to avoid creating doubts among Muslim
consumers. The study aims to establish a comprehensive Islamic manufacturing
theory anchored in faith and mutual consultation, ensuring adherence to Sharia
requirements throughout the manufacturing process.
Islamic manufacturing
entails managing resources in line with Sharia principles to benefit humanity
and seek blessings from Allah. It encompasses beliefs in monotheism, human
stewardship, moral conduct, and the pursuit of high-quality products. This
approach emphasizes the dual dimensions of worldly success and spiritual
fulfillment, ensuring that manufacturing practices align with Islamic
teachings.
In conclusion, Islamic
manufacturing offers a unique framework rooted in faith and guided by
principles derived from Islamic sources. By adhering to Sharia, cleanliness,
and blessings, Islamic manufacturing aims to produce goods that not only meet
market demand but also contribute to the well-being of individuals and society.
Further research is needed to delve deeper into Islamic manufacturing
processes, providing valuable insights for Muslims to excel in this sector.
